Custom Closet Designs For Your Home

Instead of buying a new home in the current financial market, my husband and I have decided that we'll stay put and upgrade our present home. I am not disappointed with this decision at all, as I really do like our home, it's just there isn't enough storage. Our first renovation project is going to be installing new custom closets in our home. We have three bedrooms, and a master bedroom. The three bedrooms have large reach-in closets, the master has a walk-in closet.
We decided that we'd learn how to build a closet and then use a combination of wire closet shelving and laminate drawers for the reach-in closets. For the big walk-in closet in the master bedroom we'd go with a custom design using high end hardwoods and additions like built-in laundry bags, shelves with shoe racks and custom seating.
It was very easy to go online and get instructions for installing closet organizer kits. We are able to do most do-it-yourself projects so it was easy for us and we were able to save a lot of money over having to have them installed. Best of all the kids really like their new closets and don't mind hanging up their clothes now. They actually keep their rooms neater!
There are lots of different closet solutions online, for both large and small closets. Custom closets aren't only for bedrooms either. A custom design in a kitchen pantry using pantry closet shelves can give you up to three times more room in the same amount of space.A laundry room is another perfect place for the addition of custom closets. You can use a system such as ClosetMaid. They offer a wide range of very affordable wire and laminate storage pieces for both walk-in and reach-in closets.
When we were designing the closets for the bedrooms we decided that sliding pocket doors would be the best way to go. Sliding pocket doors would allow for complete access to the closet area. Installing pocket doors was another do-it-yourself project for my husband and me.
When it came to the large closet in the master bedroom we decided to hire professionals to install. Most custom closet installers offer free design help. I was able to get everything I wanted in our custom master bedroom closet plus a built in ironing board.
Our closet makeovers are just the first step we're taking towards making our home the perfect space for our family while adding to it's resale value.
