Wire Closet Organizers

Affordable And Easy To Install Wire Closet Organizers

When I married and moved in with my husband we faced a very common problem. As a single gal I had two closets to myself for all my clothing. I worked in an office and had to dress for work. I had a lot of clothes.  My husband's home didn't have a lot of closet space, especially for my handbags and shoes. Thank goodness for wire closet organizers.

Using a combination of wire closet organizers, wire shelving and wire bins along with laminated drawers I was able to get at least twice the amount of space out of one closet. The best part is that it wasn't nearly as expensive as we thought it might be.

The first thing I had to do was take a look at my clothing to decide how much hanging surface I'd need. I sorted my clothing by required length. I also decided to use some of the area in the closet for drawers. I would also need a space to stores shoes, in and out of boxes, boots and handbags.

In my new custom closet I have an area where I hang long hanging clothing like gowns and long winter coats, this area is about 68" long. I have two areas where I am hanging things like skirts and shirts which are about 36" long, which actually doubles the space in the closet. I also now have wire shelving going all the way up to the ceiling inside the closet, perfect for storing shoes and handbags. I also store seasonal clothes, like sweaters away in plastic containers.

It's very easy to learn how to build a closet. There are many fine on line sites that tell you exactly what you need to do if yo're going to design a closet system yourself. Some people choose to use custom home closet designs from places like California Closets and Closets by Design. These businesses offer free design help.

We found that being on a budget we were able to make this a do-it-yourself project.
